Scott Goldoor

So I’m sitting here thinking about what to say about myself, as I have instructed all of our DJ’s to do. And rather than simply provide you with facts, figures and boring stats about me, as the owner of the company…let’s take a slightly different approach.

I’d like to start with the reason we are where we are today. Simply put, it’s “my guys.” I have a very unique relationship with each one of my DJ’s, in that they have become my closest friends. This goes way beyond the typical employer-employee status (actually, I don’t think I have ever used these terms).

Getting to really know each DJ, his wife and family in many cases, his life and so forth, has helped me learn much more about them. It could be as simple as spending some time with a few of my DJ’s at a Phillies or Eagles game (gotta make some time for some R & R—if you notice a few of us also have Philadelphia Eagles season tickets, for better or worse), or simply going out to lunch or dinner individually with each DJ.

The time I spend with them is invaluable. I can’t tell you how many times we’re sitting and tailgating at an Eagles game on a Sunday in football season, and several of us are sharing some of what happened at our respective events the night before. The best man at a wedding taking his tie off, wrapping it around his head and starting to breakdance…a very moving speech or toast that even gets us choked up (and we have seen hundreds of hundreds of these)…an amazing birthday party, sweet 16 or 1st Holy Communion party, where we kept 50 kids busy, highly engaged and entertained for 4 or more hours. I can’t tell you how much we have learned from each other.

This translates into better performing, MC’ing, beat-mixing and transitioning from one song or genre to another. We really and truly have learned from each other, and continually do so. In addition to this, I make it a point to personally go out with each DJ a couple of times through the course of the year at an event at which they are performing. This ensures continuity and consistency in the performance of each Signature DJ.

Well, if you’ve read this much and gotten this far down, I’ll share a little something about me, so here’s the vital stats, if you will. I technically got my start as a DJ by apprenticing with a DJ at a high school dance when I was 12 years old. I handed a record to him (dare I even say that word—I guess I’m revealing my age, huh?) and proceeded to watch and learn, segueing and transitioning, or as us “old-schoolers” call it, mixing and scratching, back and forth. I was fascinated, and the next week, went out and bought a couple starter turntables, mixer and a few dozen records. I was hooked.

Let’s keep this short. I performed at my very first wedding when I was 17 years old, had a 2-hour college radio show at the University of Delaware (WVUD---oh yeah, it was “Scotty G. on 91.3”). And this was before I-Tunes and Podcasts, if you can believe that?! DJ’d in and out of some clubs and bars over the years, before being hired as a Signature DJ almost 25 years ago.

While all of this was going on, I somehow managed to get an undergraduate and graduate degree in Psychology. So go figure, I have a Master’s Degree in Psychology and I own a DJ entertainment company.

So as we wrap things up here, and have seen the transition and transformation of DJ’ing from records and tapes to CD’s to computer-based hybrid and MP3 systems, I can honestly say I still have the love and passion of performing at every event! And this is what it is, an event. It’s not a “job,” a “gig,” or a “show.” Here I am almost 25 years later, owner, operator, performer, and there are still parts of each event that give me the chills on my arm or the back of my neck. You may think that sounds a little hokey or contrived, but I’d rather be straight with you. As they say, “…what you see if what you get.”

Thanks for taking the time to get to know me and my company a bit, and into the life of Scott Goldoor and Signature DJs, “Spinning Music Into Memories.”

Dear Scott,

Anthony and I just want to sincerely thank you for helping to make our wedding day so wonderful! There were so many songs you played from our playlist, and even some perfect ones that were not (“Sarah Smile”). We really appreciate that.

The tone of each special moment during the ceremony, cocktail hour and reception was captured by the music and, for me, helped enhance the feelings and emotions of the night. We were so happy to have so many of our family and friends out there on the dance floor with us because you kept the party going! Thank you also for the CD of all our songs—I’ve been playing it every day, re-living those moments in my head—I know, a little “girlie!” Again, thank you so much for everything Scott!

Sincerely,

Sarah & Anthony Bartolone

Scott,

We would like to thank you so so much for making our wedding day extra special! You were absolutely fantastic and really made our night unforgettable!

Thank you for paying so much attention to all of the details and making absolutely everything perfect! Your incredible support and positive attitude also stand out. Thank you! Thank you! Thank you!

Best,

Kristin & Rob Wade

Scott,

I wanted to write you a quick email to express my gratitude for an AMAZING job that you did for our wedding yesterday. Jay and I received so many compliments on your work. I don’t think I have ever been at a wedding where there was more dancing! I think Jay and I had a difficult time making our way to say “hi” to people at all the tables because every song that came on we wanted to dance to. You are truly talented in what you do. You made our night extremely fun and special.

Thank you also for the CD. What a wonderful momento and surprise.

Thank you a million times over for everything.

Samantha and Jason Blade

Scott,

We wanted to make sure that we let you know how important a part you played in the success of our wedding. From the start, it was clear that you understood what we were looking for—and that is certainly what you provided.

From the choice of music during the cocktail hour to the wonderful job of providing the commentary and music for the traditional dances, you exceeded our expectations. But…the real contribution was in knowing how “to get the party started!” Everyone was so complimentary and so enjoyed your ability to keep things going.

We especially want to thank you for providing us with a “disc of memories.” The CD has been all we’ve listened to since our reception. It will remain on the top of the stack for years to come. What a surprise and thoughtful gift.

You can be sure that we will be passing our recommendation on to others whenever the occasion presents itself.

Thanks again for everything!

Michael and Bridget Natusch

Hi Scott,

Kevin and I just wanted to send a quick note to thank you for your amazing work at our July 3rd reception at Pine Crest Country Club. It absolutely was the best day of our lives and you really set the tone for what was an amazing night. All of the music selections were perfect and every one of our requests was met. Countless people complimented us on our DJ and noted that you always played the right music, at the right time.

Hiring a DJ was one of our most important decisions because we knew that the DJ can make or break a reception. We had such confidence after hiring you, and we knew that our reception would be a great time! You were so easy to work with and your enthusiasm and passion that you have for your job is so commendable. You added so much energy to our reception, and helped us to create a day that was unforgettable. We will be sure to recommend you to other couples for their future weddings! Thanks again for everything!

Dear Scott,

Thank you for making my Bar Mitzvah a special day. I had a great time!! I thought the games we played were cool and I would definitely recommend them again to my friends. Thanks again!

Scott,

We want to thank you for being a part of our wedding. Your ability to work wonders on the crowd is amazing. You are truly gifted in knowing people and in creating a perfect atmosphere.

Thank you,

Laura & George Nickels

Hi Scott,

We are back from Hawaii, and back to work (UGH!). One of the first things I had to do was send you an e-mail.

Thank you for a fabulous wedding reception! You really made it a wonderful night for us. You made my wish come true. I wanted everyone to dance and have a great time and did we ever. At a few points during the night, I thought we needed a bigger dance floor. You did an amazing job! I danced the entire evening (and I had the blisters the following week to prove it). And of course, you dubbing Michael's (newly created) signature dance move, "the Erickson wiggle," will live on in infamy. Michael's father, who DOES NOT dance, was out there cutting a rug three times. It was the best day of my life so far, and trust me, you were a big part of making that happen. So many people commented on what a great time they had. My girlfriends had the best time dancing up a storm to some of our favorite songs.

You are truly a master of your trade! If I can ever be a reference, please let me know. You will get rave reviews from us every time we talk about the reception!

Thanks again, Scott! You are THE BEST!

Christy Erickson

Hi Scott

Just a note to say thank you for a great reception! Jason and I both had a great time and we know our families and friends did too because of you. We were delighted to have you as our DJ. You made the night fun for all, including my little niece, Zoe, who is two, and my Sister-In-Law's grandmother who is over 80.

Your professionalism and flexibility made it very easy to work with you and helped me relax, which is not easy under normal circumstances let alone as a bride before her wedding. I knew that the music was one thing I did not have to worry about thanks to you and Signature DJ's.

Thank you for everything! It was just as we had dreamed it would be. We are telling everyone we know about you and Signature DJ's.

Sincerely,

Beth and Jason Tormey

Hi Scott

Once again, you outdid yourselves! The DJ truly makes or breaks the party, and everyone at Dana's Bat Mitzvah had a superb time. You and Dominic are a wonderful, energetic team. From the moment Dana went skipping into the room until the final song, almost all of the 52 kids were up dancing, playing and having tons of fun. You also incorporated many songs and activities for the adults' enjoyment throughout the day. It was really a fantastic celebration, and we genuinely appreciate all of your efforts.

Thank you for everything! It was just as we had dreamed it would be. We are telling everyone we know about you and Signature DJ's.

Thanks Scott,

Wendy and Mary Urban (and of course, Dana too)

Scott,

Scott’s DJ performance at our wedding at Glen Foerd in Philly was top notch. The sound/microphone for the ceremony was spot-on, allowing everyone to easily hear the officiant and our vows. His vocal delivery during announcements was smooth yet excitable, and his overall professionalism made our celebration effortless. Oh, and our guests danced non-stop! They really loved his mixes.

Melissa & Carl Franke

Scott,

My friends and family are still a buzz after the great music that made our wedding a day and evening that will live in dancing fame. Thanks to Scott Goldoor and Signature DJs all our guests had the opportunity to dance to the music they liked. Scott took care of every detail, including providing a violinist to welcome our guests. Given Scott’s attention to detail and understanding of our needs, all we had to do was dance, and dance we did. Thanks Scott and Signature DJs for making our day so amazing.

Cheryl and Chris Tatreau

Dear Scott,

This letter is to thank you from the bottom of our hearts for making our children’s B’Nai Mitzvah party such a success. You were instrumental in the planning and execution of the event. You ran the party so smoothly and successfully that almost two weeks later we’re still getting compliments on you.

From the moment we had our first meeting, all of us in the family knew that you were the DJ for us. You were 100% professional, including all the phone calls, emails, and face-to-face meetings that followed. You saved the day for us during the candle lighting ceremony. We had left the poems at the Temple, but because you were so prepared, you had asked us for a copy of them in advance. Additionally, we had logistics issues with our venue, but you worked with us and with them so that we got exactly what we wanted. While we hired you to be our DJ, you actually ran the show. You went above and beyond what we expected.

Please know that we will be recommending you to anyone who asks (and even some who don’t ask!). Please feel free to have people contact us if they would like a reference from a recent event. We would be happy to tell them about our experience.

It was total pleasure working with you. The kids and adults at our party all had a fantastic time. We had a wonderful time. You were the consummate professional and a very fun MC, and we wanted you to know how grateful we are.

Fondly,

Beth & Stan Taylor
