Vince Perkins

How did I get here?  I never considered myself an entertainer, but I have always worked with people in my fulltime work.  I met a mobile DJ who recognized my potential immediately and began to tell me stories of events and parties that he had done for over 20 years.  I must admit that initially the pay was the biggest draw, making as much money in one day as I could in a week at my current job was unbelievable.  What I have come to learn very quickly is that the money will always be there, but you must enjoy what you are doing if you want to be successful in this business, because it really comes through in your performance. I’m happy to say that 12 years later not only am I still enjoying myself, but I have realized success beyond even my wildest dreams.

My Philosophy:  After working for a few years I learned 5 very important things that have put me where I am today.  #1 no two parties are ever the same.  Time and preparation are necessary for every event.  #2 listening is the one thing you must always do.  What I think or feel is not relevant unless my opinion is requested.  Listening to the client and

allowing them to feel very much part of every detail no matter how big or small is key.

#3  Always strive to meet or exceed client expectations.  Setting high goals for even the shortest of parties can only help you give the best possible performance. #4 Always let the client know that you care about the success of the event and how honored you are to be part of the celebration.  The 5th thing can’t be taught.  You must be sincere in all that you do from beginning to end.  If you are not, this too will come through in your performance.  I walk it like I talk it--there is no other way to be.

How do I separate myself from other DJ’s?:   All things equal, DJ’ing is 20% music 70% personality  and 10% microphone or stage presence.  I know without a doubt that I separate myself from other DJ’s in the way that I sound.  I have been told on many occasions that I have this great radio voice.  This doesn’t mean that I don’t still have to work hard to create the perfect party, but this fact gives me a natural advantage over some entertainers.  Some would argue that this little detail doesn’t matter but there are occasions that you want the best sounding MC to run your event.  I only hope that when it’s time to choose an entertainment company, you choose Signature DJs, and when selecting a specific DJ, you consider the Vince Perkins experience.  You won’t be disappointed.

he rewards:  The biggest compliment, accolade, praise, etc. that can ever be bestowed on a DJ is a follow-up letter (unsolicited) from a client.  I’ve had many experiences in 12 years but recently there was one that reminded me that bringing joy to someone’s life is priceless.  When meeting with the client at their home going over our worksheets, I remember asking the bride-to-be how she would like to be introduced.  Right on queue she began to cry.  I realized at that moment that she was so excited about marrying this young man that just the thought of being introduced as his wife brought her to tears of joy.  I knew that my involvement in their wedding had to be flawless.  A week later I received an email from the bride specifically taking me through events at the wedding that meant so much to her.  Even as she composed the email she couldn’t help but “tear up” again, she wrote.  What a Signature DJ moment.  That’s what this is all about.  I hope to be part of your next event.

Vince,

Thanks again for being our DJ! As you promised, we had everyone from all age groups dancing by the end of the night. I had guests without solicitation comment on what a great job the DJ did. You were always smiling, always listening, and always respectful. Thanks for helping us make it a memorable day!

Hi Vince

First of all—happy late birthday :) We just wanted to send you an informal “Thank you” for all of your work, for WORKING on your birthday (thank your wife for us too), and for a wonderful wedding “soundtrack.”

Everyone had a wonderful time and Ron and I couldn’t be more thankful for what you put together. We were the last of our friends to get married and I can honestly say you care about what you do—and we appreciated that!! Most weddings have a typical progression of music (that I can’t stand), but you accepted our requests and made this very personal to us.

From the start to the end, we couldn’t have been happier. I tried so hard NOT to cry during the procession—Canon always makes me cry—but when you changed the version for me, I lost it. You really made our day and we cannot thank you enough!! Down to the last few “punk” songs—no one knew we had that in us :)

Please feel free to use us as a reference—I wish I could book you for all my little get-togethers.

Thank you again from the bottom of our hearts!

Sincerely,.

Ron & Stefani

Dear Scott & Vince,

"Thank you so much for providing the DJ entertainment at our “Back to School Dance.” Vince has performed at numerous functions here, and always keeps the kids involved, engaged and most importantly, dancing. He is truly a class act and a top-notch entertainer!”

Hope to see you again at our next dance,

HIi Scott,

Sorry it has taken me a while to get back to you. Vince was AWESOME at the wedding!!! It was so much fun and my family & friends loved him—he played all the songs they requested and made spur of the moment announcements…it couldn’t have been better. Thank you so much!

HIi Scott,

"Thank you for doing such a terrific job at our wedding. I don’t think my cousins ever stopped dancing the whole time!

Our first dance was very memorable and we were very impressed with your professionalism. We will recommend you to our friends who are currently engaged."

Sincerely,.

Leslie & Tom Barker

Scott,

I just wanted to let you know what a great job Vince did for us at our reception on September 19th at the Hilltop House. He came early to setup, as you know, and also worked with us when the dinner fell a little beyond schedule. Everyone had a wonderful time, as soon as the dance floor unleashed you couldn’t get them off it. Our guests definitely know how to have a good time and we appreciate how well Vince catered to them and played all requests.

We will be happy to be a reference for you and Vince in the future if needed. Please do not hesitate to ask us.

Thanks for a special night!
